At Shopify, we have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated sales professionals to join as an Account Executive on our SMB Expansion Sales team. Our SMB Expansion Sales aka Cross-Sell team works with exciting and growing merchants with annual revenue up to $5M. Our Cross-Sell Account Executives bring more Shopify to merchants to unlock their next phase of business growth:

  • Retail Point-of-Sale products
  • Financial Services products

Our central goal is to expedite the growth of existing merchants and help them navigate their present challenges. We are enthusiastic about delivering exceptional merchant experiences and are dedicated to enhancing commerce experiences for all.

This is a high velocity sales environment. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to thrive in a fast-paced team, engage with a diverse range of merchants, manage multiple deals at once, and be comfortable levelling up your sales craft with personalized training and career prospects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with current merchants to understand their unique needs and challenges, and provide them with tailored commerce solutions
  • Lead and participate in high-volume outreach efforts through calls, emails, social media, and other channels to qualify leads - this role requires outbounding muscle
  • Manage a comprehensive sales cycle from initial contact through to contract negotiations, maintaining a pipeline of opportunities
  • Serve as a proactive point of contact for clients, ensuring an exceptional service experience
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance client engagements and outcomes
  • Stay on top of the latest Shopify product features, industry trends, and market dynamics to provide the best possible advice and service to merchants

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — capable of building trusting relationships and effectively conveying the value of Shopify’s offerings
  • Proven ability to manage detailed sales cycles and succeed in a competitive environment, ideally within a tech SaaS company
  • Comfort with high-volume sales activities and capable of maintaining focus and efficiency in fast-paced settings
  • Experience with CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce), and familiarity with sales engagement platforms preferred
  • Self-motivated and driven by results, with the tenacity to pursue leads and close deals
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and thrive on change
