Senior Backend Engineer Open Finance

Our Open Finance team is building the unified infrastructure that powers both data aggregation and payment initiation in Brazil. You will design and develop services that retrieve and normalize complex financial information, while simultaneously building the robust, secure architecture required to move money through Pix and other Open Finance payment methods.

Your work will bridge the gap between data and decision, empowering our customer to use both data and payments to build products that help them intelligently move money based on data. Your work will bridge the gap between legacy banking systems and modern, high-scale APIs in a heavily regulated environment.

• Responsibilities:
  
  • Develop and maintain connections to financial institutions to retrieve data and initiate payments via Open Finance.
  • Leverage LLMs and AI tools to automate the normalization and enrichment of data into homogeneous, beautiful endpoints that power our API.
  • Design and develop robust software architecture to support regulated payments environments and data retrieval at scale.
  • Adopt an AI-first mindset to accelerate development, from using coding assistants to building internal AI agents that improve system reliability.
  • Own the creation of programmatic tools, services, and workflows to improve the reliability of the Open Finance ecosystem.
  • Implement AI-powered monitoring and automated quality assurance to proactively detect anomalies in mission-critical financial services.
  • Interface with other institutions’ engineering teams or the Open Finance Service Desk to debug and resolve technical bottlenecks.
  • Carefully manage API retro-compatibility and deprecation plans for growing products.
    

This position may be for you if:

• 5+ years of experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years work experience programming in Python.
• Experience working with Open Finance Brazil
• Experience dealing with large amounts of data in flight and event-based communication.
• Willingness to solve challenging problems in a heavily regulated and secured environment.
• Used to AI coding assistants and a keen eye on automating everything.
• Used to cloud native platforms, specifically AWS and Datadog.
• You are proficient in written and spoken English.

Amazing if:

• Experience with OAuth, OpenID Connect, and FAPI (Financial grade API).
• Deep knowledge of the Brazilian Open Finance Ecosystem and Pix regulation.
• Experience with Asynchronous programming (Python’s asyncio), Django, FastAPI.
• You are a security-first engineer with experience in Fintech or SaaS platforms.
• Relevant programming knowledge in other languages such as Javascript, Go, Rust
• Experience building large-scale platforms with a global reach.
• You have leveraged AI to fundamentally change the way you work and / or build amazing projects
