Sr. Accountant

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Accounting Operations

• Manage the full month-end close process for a portfolio of clients in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Categorize financial transactions, manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, and reconcile accounts.
• Perform accrual accounting adjustments and maintain accurate financial records.
• Track project costs including labor, materials, and job-specific expenses to ensure accurate job costing.
• Identify missing, prepaid, or misclassified expenses and correct discrepancies.
• Manage sales tax filing and compliance for U.S.-based clients.
• Troubleshoot integration issues between CRM systems, billing systems, and accounting platforms.

Client Advisory & Communication

• Prepare monthly financial statements including variance analysis and performance insights.
• Provide commentary on financial trends and key performance indicators.
• Maintain professional communication with clients via email and occasional virtual meetings.
• Assist with client onboarding, including reviewing historical financial records and correcting accounting discrepancies.

Workflow Discipline & Compliance

• Maintain organized documentation and financial records that can withstand audit review.
• Support clients during audit preparation and documentation review.
• Ensure accounting processes follow best practices and remain compliant with financial standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting or outsourced accounting environment.
• Strong expertise in accrual-based accounting.
• Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, financial analysis).
• Experience preparing monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively identify issues in financial data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with U.S. sales tax filing and compliance.
• Background working with home services or job-costing industries (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, construction).
• CPA certification or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Previous experience supporting financial audits or audit preparation.
