Key Responsibilities
- Scalable Theme Architecture: Spearhead the end-to-end design of a modular, scalable, and highly customizable website theme system (primarily for WordPress).
- Visual Excellence & Conversion: Create a portfolio of visually diverse, industry-leading themes that are modern, professional, and tailored to our clients' industries. Every design choice must be purposeful, driving visitors toward conversion.
- SEO & Performance by Design: Integrate SEO best practices, site speed principles, and accessibility (ADA) standards into the core of the theme system.
- Production-First Thinking: Design themes that are intuitive for our internal teams through a flexible and powerful system of modular blocks and layout options. Your system must make their processes seamless, efficient, and error-proof.
- Company Website Ownership: Maintain and elevate our main corporate website. Design and implement new features, high-impact landing pages, and improvements that reinforce our position as an industry leader.
- Iteration & Improvement: Use data, competitor analysis, and design trends to continuously iterate and improve our themes' effectiveness, aesthetics, and usability.
What Makes You the Right Fit?
This is a senior role, and we have high expectations. The ideal candidate will live at the intersection of breathtaking visual design and rigorous systems-level thinking.
Must-Haves:
- 7+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, with a heavy focus on web design (not just mobile/app design).
- A world-class portfolio that must demonstrate:
- Experience building scalable design systems (component libraries, style guides).
- Evidence of multi-site, multi-brand, or theme-based web design.
- A strong foundation in conversion-centered design (CRO) and data-driven decisions.
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma,
- Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, page builders (e.g., Gutenberg/Block Editor), and the technical constraints of a CMS.
- Mastery of user-centered design (UCD), responsive design, typography, and color theory.
- Pragmatic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS) and how they influence design. You don't need to be a developer, but you must know how to design for one.
- Exceptional communication skills. You can articulate and defend design decisions to leadership and provide crystal-clear documentation for production teams.
- A pixel-perfect, meticulous attention to detail.
- A foundational understanding of on-page SEO principles.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves):
- Experience designing for small businesses or "blue-collar" service industries (plumbers, electricians, contractors, etc.).
- Experience with heatmap and user session recording tools.
